Where do you begin to fix it?
Get the broom. Sweep out the bums. Maybe we can salvage one or two guys. Maybe Carimi can be decent ( I get it, that this is his first full year in the NFL, and olinemen typically need a bit of time to be decent).
Emery will need to fix the oline, like he fixed the WR's. With AJ and B.Marsh, we have a foundation to a solid WR corps. Same can happen with the oline. Emery has the skills to bring in solid talent to that oline. It will happen.
This isn't rocket science.
Those who want to focus on our defense as the problem are delusional. Yes, they sucked last night. That happens, even with great defenses. But to wring our hands and say our "D" or worse, our 2nd string QB is the problem.............that's simply nuts.
Folks, there's nothing new here. We ALL knew that our oline was our weak link to the 2012 season. We all talked about this here. All that we talked about happened. It has played out just as we predicted. We have the #32 ranked oline in the entire NFL, again. Skill players cannot overcome this. Coaches can't overcome this.
It's like a terminal cancer. Our oline is killing our season. The other things we complain about are just symptoms. The disease is the oline.

Tom Brady hasn't always had great olines. But he's never, in his worst nightmares, had anything like what we saw last night. Never.
We have the dead-last worst oline in the entire NFL - again. I believe folks love to think the glitzy skill positions can overcome an oline as bad as ours. That's not going to happen. It's like a beautiful, powerful, sports car with no gas. It ain't going ANYWHERE.
We aren't either. Not this year with this oline. It isn't the defense. It's not our 2nd string QB. It's the oline. This really really isn't rocket science. It's reality in the NFL.

Does Jonathan Scott deserve a shot?
I would say let Spencer go back to center and let Garza take over LG, but Spencer has looked like crap too when he play guard.
An Obviously I need to stay in touch more often, becuase I did not even realize that Chris Williams was gone.

But Emery can bring in people, and that does not mean that the coaches will utilize them properly. We have not used Bennett adequately. Even when Jeffrey was out and he sould have been a much bigger part. There is may at play here than just personnel. Granted that is also a problem.
I have no idea if the WR distribution is on Tice, Bates or Cutler but Marshall is not our only good WR right now. Yes, he is our best, but he can be even better if we make the other ones a real threat.

well it was also bad last season but everyone said it was Martz fault. Is eveyone still sticking to that story? Everyone is all over Emery's nuts other then Marshal this offseason was crap and we see it on the field. Our team is good at bum slaying then reality sets in against good teams

You can't overcome bad players. Our oline is comprised of the worst oline in the NFL. I definitely agree we have other problems.

We knew the Oline was shit but even tho it's shit 10 games into the season they should play better than at the preseason... sure there has been some improvement but it's just not enough.
That's the tune I've changed to as well after last nights game. Radically improving (not just a tweak) the OL has to be the biggest priority by far this offseason. That's the biggest bang for the buck in improving this teams offense and prospects for the future in general. repeatedly giving away games and getting your QB killed because the OL is completely incompetent has to end.

So you think it is all players and the OL is being well coached? I tried to see how Chris Williams was doing in St. Louis but couldn't find much. Not even sure if they have played him.

But then we get to hear Lovie say today, "well we're 7-3 and its just one loss. We all had a bad day and we weren't ready to play and I hold my self responsible for that". Then fire yourself Lovie, no one else will. I know Jerry Angelo put you in a bad spot talent wise, but you were right there with him and you had his ear its your team. This team is old, slow and talent less in most areas. I don't see a good ending to this season, because you and your coaches don't know how to make adjustments and you have no talent. Conte and Wright were as bad as the O line.

And I was not saying that I am not more worried about the O than I am the D. All I was saying was that I half way expected the O to suck, but I did not expect that from the D.
BIH, the Bears under Lovie Smith have been the worst in the league at in game adjustments IMHO. It goes all the way back to the 2006 SB. The Colts adjusted their game plan for the terrible weather. We didn't. I would guess around 90% of the games we trail at halftime we lose.
99, You, me & many others on this board have said this O-line is terrible. We were wrong. They aren't good enough to be terrible. Calling them terrible is an insult to all things terrible! Combine that with Tice's incredibly predictable basic offense & bad play calling & you have one of the worst offenses in the league. I will also say that sometimes people give Cutler a hard time for his play but when you see how bad this offense looks without him it makes me realize how good he is. If we ever get a good OL & OC Cutler's numbers will be through the roof. Stats & wins.
