2. I miss Martz. Flame me I dont give a shit he was a trillion times better then the shit we see now. Sorry if some of you are too stubborn to admit being wrong.
3. When was the last time Lovie made a personel decision in season? If he does it I would give him credit cause it will show a change to his stubborn ways
idk what else to say should we be surprised the offense sucked balls yet again? which is a season long problem. The defense surprised me with their gutless performance but I have seen other top defenses shit themselves from time to time just check out the points jacksonville put on Texans
I'm not gonna flame you but I will counter what you posted.
1) We offered him the OC job and he turned it down because Lovie's situation we tentative and Pete Carroll had just taken over in Seattle under a 5 year deal. He went with what he thought was a surer deal but then got bounced by Carroll after one season.
2) Mike Martz was always a poor choice for a Bears OC but he was about the last man standing after we tried to get guys like Bates. The offense may have been more productive this year with him still as OC but instead of being second in the league in sacks allowed we'd be first again and we may have lost Cutler even earlier in the year and for more than game if he kept insisting on him remaining a pocket passer while he continued to implement his down field passing game.
Would it have been an improvement? Yeah, it probably would be but would it be a winning offense that used it's talent well? No, probably not. First of all you probably would have Marshall OR Jeffery because he didn't like big WRs remember? Martz was no miracle worker either. He runs and antiquated offense and if the Bears hadn't hired him he's have been out of the NFL long before he was. You haven't seen him coaching anywhere else have you mo? He's where all the washed up coaches and players go. The broadcast booth where he can tall about things he can no longer do.
3) I agree and that's why this time he needs to show some stones and do it or Emery needs to do it for him by reminding him that his agreement as GM was that he only had to keep Lovie on for the 2012 season. He gets no outs after this.
When you follow three mediocre middle of the pack seasons with two where you had every opportunity to make the playoffs and even a possible run at a Super Bowl berth and fail because you couldn't make the adjustments necessary to keep your team winning then you have to answer for that. Right now Lovie needs to answer for two things as far as I'm concerned.
a) The utter failure or his OC and his offense to produce points and avoid turnovers despite the huge influx of new top drawer talent both at starting and backup spots. Phil Emery went out and patched every offensive hole he could find a player to patch it with who he could afford. This offense has tons more talent than it had a year ago and it still can't get out of it's own way. Lovie is the HMIC and he has to answer for that. Nobody else can.
b) How he manages to get out coached so badly in key games against top teams. This is a pattern that has been repeating itself for way too long now. he came here with the avowed purpose of beating the Packers twice a year and owning the NFCN. How's that worked out for him lately? McCarthy and Capers chew him up and spit him out game after game and a second year NFL coach and his DC made his team look like buffoons last night. He got seriously out coached again!
The defense got hammered by and excellent game plan and superior play calling. I could see it from the very start. Harbaugh sent Vernon Davis right across the front of those zone drops and forced Briggs and/or Wright to match up with him man and man and they couldn't. Not many could so it was a very smart move.
On that first drive he didn't go after Jennings or Tillman deep he went after Hayden who has less time in the slot than DJ and doesn't play it well when he has to play it man on man so they got a deep ball in on him. Bottom line is that Harbaugh exploited the weaknesses in our pass coverage to a tee. He called it beautifully and took them right down the field for two scores. Where was our offense? Maybe if we could have held onto the ball they'd have had fewer opportunities.
He gave Kaepernick plays that allowed him to get the ball out fast and further negated our pass rush by using 350lb Leonard Davis who can pass block as a blocking TE and sent a 340lb OG after Urlacher and Briggs all night to clear running lanes. They negated our speed and pursuit with size and by going straight at us behind those behemoth blockers and we did nothing to adjust!
I watched Lovie standing on the sidelines when they scored that second TD on the run and he had this totally bewildered look on his face. He didn't know what to do to stop them. You could see it. If the man ever changed expressions his would have been one of frustration mixed with a little fear. He was getting out foxed and he knew it.
Now add to that an offense that had the ball for half the game but somehow couldn't manage more than 143 yards of total offense and he knew he couldn't even stop them by keeping the ball away or match their scoring. There was o way we could win that game with Campbell at QB and the game plan he had going in and he knew it then. You could see it on his face and that's when I turned the game off. The only thing in doubt was the final score and I'm surprised it wasn't worse than it was. Offensively they were doing pretty much anything they wanted.
Jim Harbaugh must be a happy camper today. He finally got his payback for all of the abuse he took when he played in Chicago under Ditka.

An in season change is needed if we're not gonna piss away another season like we did last year. It's foolish to let this continue for even one more week. It's clearly not working. The patient is dieing and needs help. Do we just let him die?
If there is no change made by Lovie and/or Emery doesn't step in and ask or demand it then I lose respect for both of them as far as using an ounce of common sense to change the teams fate.
If we didn't have a guy like Bates on the coaching staff then may be I'd say yeah we're screwed but we do and it's pretty hard to believe that as wellas he knows Cutler and his capabilities and preferences that he couldn't do a better job of it right now than Tice is doing.
Screw the embarrassment. A coach like Tom Coughlin wouldn't hesitate to do something about it. This where you separate the beer from the bilge water. If you want to have a top contender and win SBs sometimes you need to make tough decisions so let's see if either or both have the desire to be a contender and are willing to make a tough decision.

I hope you're wrong because if that's what they decide it just proves to be that we're not ready to do what it takes to become a top contender. What makes great teams great is their ability and willingness to change engines in flight if that's what's needed.
I refuse to sit around and watch THAT offense stink up the field week after week and I refuse to watch the Bears lose out to the Packers again this year because they aren't able to adapt themselves on the fly when needed.
So if they continue along this path you all enjoy the season. I'll can watch Bronco games instead and watch and offense built around the strengths of it's QB and offensive talent that does want to win games and make the playoffs.

You can re-arrange the deck chairs, but this is the team we'll finish the season with.

And that is why the team will be lucky to get to 10 wins and early playoff exit. No amount of blind luck is going to change the current destiny. But a FUTURE one is more easily had by cycling through the bad right now and get a leg-up on next season.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

I totally agree.
Many of us are in denial. We want to believe in the pixie dust, or some magic change this season. But the plane is in the air. No swapping out engines in mid flight. The time for change was before training camp began.
And let's be real here. There will be no coaching changes in mid-season (even if this is best, it's not going to happen). Pigs will fly first.

There is no "in flight". It's NOT a SB contender it's a pretender. You change "engines" NOW to get a leg up on the future 2013 season so there is no more fits and starts. It's not going to the SB and if that can't be had why settle for more 9-7, 10-6 "were almost there" garbage. Fold the hand so you can win the next pot.

I'm not saying I agree with it. I'm just saying, IMHO, we won't see a coaching change of any kind this season. I just don't see it actually happening.

I'm not redefining the team. Just the offensive coaching strategy. That has nothing to do with "deck chairs". The Titanic sunk because it wouldn't slow down or alter it's course. Common sense was lacking.
If Lovie chooses to ignore common sense too and Emery can't get him to see the error in that way of thinking then I'd say a change should be made. I'm all for loyalty to your players and coaches but loyalty has it's limits when incompetence enters into the picture.
Each week we see an article claiming how Tice isn't responsible of missed blocks and dropped passes. I agree. He's not anymore responsible for that than Marinelli is for missed tackles or Toub is for bad punts or missed FGs. But somehow we seem to be missing far fewer tackles and experiencing far fewer bad punts or missed FGs than we are missed blocking assignments or simply being over matched and seeing more than our fair share of dropped passes.
When you're trying to get to the World Series, your in a pennant race and your starting pitcher can't seem to find the plate if the ball had a rope on it from him to the catchers glove or he's getting shelled game after game do you keep going with him or do you change your rotation? Or maybe start using long relief help?
If you want to win you have to adapt and adjust and it's just not getting done. I posted an article from this past weekend about how the Bears are getting off to such poor starts. When you read it and the stats that accompany it then watch a game you can't come to any other conclusion than that article did.
The game plans suck, the initial play calling sucks and the players don't play fast and with the confidence needed to execute well. They seem lost and more like their going through the motions. In some games we've made some adjustments and done SLIGHTLY better but when was the last time you saw the Bears come out offensively and without defensive help just take control and dominate offensively? It doesn't happen.
Tice may get credit for making those adjustments but whose really telling him how to adjust? Don't you think Cutler and Bates have a lot to do with that? If Tice knew even the very least about what the fuck he was doing EVERY game wouldn't start with offensive struggles. He DOESN'T know what he's doing and his game plans suck. Therefore an entire week of practice and prep is being wasted on something that has to be changed anyway before it will work.
I'm sorry but I can't tolerate the inefficiency of that. That's no way to run a business and it's no way to run a football team. If they want to keep behaving like the second rate, second division team they've been for the last five years they can do it on their time, not mine.

This whole thing martz likes short fast wrs is a myth broken by Roy Williams. Martz can only do with what he is given and last year JA said don't expect a big money wr cause that's what Hester is so we end up with basement bin shit like Williams cause of more bs rhetoric of he knows the system
i guess its a moot point now but I can't see how cutler and marshal couldn't work with martz. Even the te position looked better under martz lol
