He is not playing as well as he used to. And I mean that past the obvious "how can you play as good behind this line"? I just see him making worse decisions and when he does have time, not all the throws are as accurate. Don't get me wron -- I see thr pressure on him, but even taking that into consideration, I think I am seeing a slightly different player.
I hope we can fix the line and Cutler can go back to playing like he can.
Won't be this season though

Seriously.
Can you imagine what it must be like pain-wise, each week after a game. And about the time he's feeling decent, it's time to go back in for the next game/beating.

Once we get a decent oline, he'll be confident and play to his potential. I think he could be elite behind a great offensive line. Nobody in the NFL could be great behind the crap oline we have now.
If Goodell was really concerned about player safety he'd cancel our games until Emery acquired NFL-level oline talent

I won't vote in the poll you posted up, JABF99. The reason is because I really don't have a clue as to how much Cutler will be able to absorb due to the blows he takes each game. The one hit that knocked him out the last game was one where a guy hit him late after the play was over and he hit him high. In other words, the Texans player who hit him cheated. I think Cutler is a tough son of a bitch, so he may surprise us all and make it through the rest of the season unscathed.
That being said, I am frankly shocked that he's wanting to come back to Chicago to play the rest of his career with us. He's got no future if he comes back to the Bears for the last five or six years of his career because his numbers will never be indicative of what he could really be due to the porous offensive line and wide receivers he has to work with. Frankly, if I were Matt Forte and I thought that Mike Tice wasn't going to play him more than he has this year, I'd go up to Emery and demand to be traded immediately because he is being grossly misused, mishandled. We have superlatives up and down this offense, yet we don't have enough to make this offense more than a unit that scores at max 13-14 points per game, again, due to the offensive line and the depth at wide receiver. Past Cutler, Forte, Marshall, Jeffery, Louis, and Bush, we have nothing on offense. This offense is worse than the 2010 offense that led the team to the NFC Championship Game, and it may well be worse than then 2005 division-winning team's offense that averaged scoring like 16 points per game. The problem is that as good as our defense is this year, it's not as good as those defenses in '05 and '06, so we have to score more on offense in order to be successful. Sadly, we are incapable of doing that, partly because of the talent we have or rather, don't have, and partly because of the God awful playcalling of Mike Tice.
To borrow a phrase from both soulman and Jerry Angelo, "The talent is there to win." We have talent. We just need to utilize it better.

If I were Cutler, I would be sick over coming to the Chicago Bears. He pissed away years of a promising career to come to a team that doesn't have a clue as to how to build and run a great offense.
If he has any sense left after his brain-pounding this season, he'll not sign here unless they gut this oline and build something decent. I think he'll have that kind of leverage.

Hell, Cutler had the leverage to lead the Bears' front office to send Martz packing, I don't think it will be a major deal to get rid of Webb and perhaps another lineman in favor of a free agent Pro Bowl left tackle and a offensive lineman draftee.

Agreed. I'm sure Jay is going to insist on some specific changes as a condition before considering a new contract.

How do these multiple-concussions affect a player being allowed to continue playing in the NFL?
My point is, that if Cutler comes back and gets a serious concussion in the next few games, how does that affect his long-term NFL career? I'm ignorant about this, so that's why I'm asking. Is his career with the Bears, more of a gamble, if he gets more of these concussions - this season - behind our sorry oline?
He's really getting his brain scrambled pretty regularly now. They may not be noted as official "concussions" but we all see what's happening to him. He's getting physically beaten and hit, about as hard as you can be. He's a strong guy, who keeps in games (usually) but the toll on his brain must be significant.

We don't even know if Cutler will be cleared to play on Sunday so there nothing to talk about yet.

I hope & pray he does. That's the best I can do.
As far as him staying in Chicago, I think Emery will get this line fixed wether he gets rid of the coaching staff or not & he will get JC signed to a long term deal. That is as long as he can survive this season. Emery is on record as saying he likes everything about Cutler. No way he lets him leave Chicago. Emery is a smart guy who I think lands us a top tier LT (I hope it's Clady), maybe another O-Lineman in FA & draft a few early in next year's draft. He couldn't fix everything in one off season.
