Welker's wife is absolutely right
Anna Burns Welker, Wes Welker's wife, apologizes for Ray Lewis comments - ESPN Boston
Wes Welker's wife apologizes
Last year, Tom Brady's wife had some harsh words following the conclusion of the New England Patriots' season, this year it's the wife of wide receiver Wes Welker that is making news.
Welker's wife, Anna Burns Welker, took to social media site Facebook to take a few shots at Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis on Sunday night after the Patriots' 28-13 loss to the Ravens in the AFC Championship
"Proud of my husband and the Pats. By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis' Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!" Burns Welker said in a since-deleted post on her personal Facebook page.
Burns Welker released a statement to sports blog Larry Brown Sports apologizing for her remarks:
"I'm deeply sorry for my recent post on Facebook. I let the competitiveness of the game and the comments people were making about a team I dearly love get the best of me. My actions were emotional and irrational and I sincerely apologize to Ray Lewis and anyone affected by my comment after yesterday's game.
"It is such an accomplishment for any team to make it to the NFL playoffs, and the momentary frustration I felt should not overshadow the accomplishments of both of these amazing teams."
Wes Welker led the Patriots in receiving Sunday with 117 yards and a touchdown on eight catches in the loss, but could have played his last game for New England as he is set to become a free agent this offseason.
Lewis, who announced weeks ago that he would retire at the conclusion of Baltimore's season, led all players with 14 tackles. I don't even understand why she's apologizing. She's absolutely right. Screw Ray Lewis, he's lucky to be playing in the Super Bowl instead of sitting on death row.
Go 49ers!

Bad timing...the timing of makes it sound like unsportsmanlike, sour grapes...
Reductio ad absurdum...it's how we roll...

Granted Ray Lewis has covered up his past with a lot of community service and a deep passion for God now, but... the tears Ray and his friends caused on two families is FAR more realistic than the attention hungry crap that his guy pulls on the field.
The only "truth" I see is a whinny, self-important, NFL trophy wife with a Facebook account and big mouth who probably just embarrassed the shit out of her husband....
There are lot of NFL players with questionable pasts and bad, non-role model-like behavior...Lewis has kids out of wedlock, big deal...so does Brian Urlacher...
As for the murders, I have no idea if Lewis personally stabbed those people, I tend to doubt it...was he at the wrong please, at the wrong time, with perhaps the wrong people...yes, he was certainly guilty of that...

I don't care for Ray Lewis at all. I don't like his personality, I think its over the top and annoying. I don't care for his history (which he could have changed, who knows), I just really don't like the guy.
However, that doesn't make what Mrs welker did acceptable. She's acting like a 14 year old emotionally unstable girl. It's rediculous and the apology was necessary.

She was actually going to keep the comment posted but Wes dropped the keyboard and deleted it on accident.

This story is going to get so much attention we might actually get a re-trial after the super bowl is over.

Who the hell cares what a Miss Hooter's winner thinks anyhow. Pack your Bruno Magli's Ray, your going to the Welker's tonight.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
Restore the roar!
